Oral, Dental and Jaw Surgery
Oral dental and maxillofacial surgery includes beside all the impacted teeth in the mouth, removing out the cystic formations related with the mouth and teeth through surgical operations and the corrections made on hard and soft tissues in the mouth for helping the prosthesis manufacturing. Additionally it realizes the operations of broken chins and fang resections.
Orthodontics
Orthodontics is diagnosing, curing and preventing the dental and jaw defects. By correcting the teeth involutions an important aesthetic acquisition will be supplied and also countless contributions will be made for the oral and dental health.
Early evaluation gives the opportunity to supply the determination of the problems on time and making the most effective treatment. Thats why it is good to make the orthodontic examination of your child before his or her 7 years of age. If an orthodontic problem will be observed, your orthodontist will wait for the coreect time to start the treatment.
Today, the orthodontic treatments will be executed to lots of adult persons. The difference of the orthodontic treatments executed to the adults is the lengthening of the treatment period. Even that the treatment period is lengthened for the adults, good results will be gained after the orthodontic treatment.
Even that the duration of orthodontic treatments are showing differences depending to the cases, they can be changed between 6 months and 36 months according to the age of the patient, to the degree of the closure defect, to the patients mouth care and to his/her convergence of the treatment.
Implant
Implants are artificial titanium tooth roots which will be placed to the jawbone instead of the teeth lost by various reasons. The implants are supplying better speaking and chewing functions in comparison with the traditional casings and prosthesis, and they also bring a natural look to your face.
The implant is a comfortable and reliable application. The operation can be executed under local anesthesia without feeling any pain or discomfort. In necessary cases general anesthesia may also be applied. However, you have to keep in mind one point; for making the implantation, it is necessary to have enough bone structures to support the healthy teeth and the implants.
After the operation, it will be waited for 2-4 months for knitting the implant and the bone. Afterwards, the prostheses will be placed onto these implants with an application that takes a couple of séances.
The prostheses made onto the implants will take the places of the natural teeth and they are building a structure as closest as to the natural. During the completion of the missing teeth, the adjacent teeth will not be cut like in the bridges, in other words the healthy teeth will be kept untouched. They are more durable then all the other prostheses. Additionally, for the complete prostheses which can not be ordinarily fixed (especially lower jaw) two implants will be replaced onto the jaw and the binding of these prostheses and their effective functioning will be supplied with them.
What is a dental implant?
The dental implant can be described as the artificial roots inserted into the jaw bone for substitution of the teeth lost due to various reasons.
What material are dental implants made out of?
The dental implants are made out of the titanium element.
Is placing of the implant an easy and safe treatment?
The implant placing is quite an easy and safe treatment operation as long as it is implemented by expert teams and in perfectly sterilized conditions and environments.
The implant treatments are comprising of two stages as operational stage and prosthesis stage. Thus, ensuring harmoniously working of a prosthodintist and an oral and dental surgery specialist is vitally important in this process.
Who are most eligible for implant treatments?
The success of an implant treatment depends heavily upon structure and quality of the jawbones. For those patients who are having weak or insufficient bone density, an artificial bone meal enrichment process over the lesser density locations is firstly being applied and implant operations are being conducted afterwards.
Though there is not any upper age limit for implant applications, generally all patients who are in their eighteens or older, that is, who have already completed their bone developments, can be applied implant operations.
Besides, the implant operations are being executed on patients who are having unmanageable health problems as diabetes, hypertension and blood-clotting or on patients who are having heart troubles in advanced levels, only after obtaining consents of their doctors prior to their implant treatments
Do patients feel pain during implant operations?
Patients do not feel any sort of pain during implant operations thanks to local anesthesia. The pain which might be sensed after the operation may easily be relieved with any common pain killer medicine.
Are implant operations also being executed with general anesthesia?
Yes. Implant operations may also be executed with general anesthesia depending on patients demand or health status.
How long would it take for placing implants on patients jawbones?
While the duration of implant operations would be varying as per the number of implants to be placed, a single implants placement would usually take about 15-20 minutes.
Can an implant be placed immediately after the extraction of a tooth?
There are two different practices in this regard. An implant would be placed right away if no inflammation or defect observed in the place of extraction. However, in case of presence of any defect in the place of extraction, then, an artificial bone meal enrichment process would be applied there which would necessitate a waiting period of approximately two months in order to ensure healing of the area.
How long is the period of waiting for insertion of prosthesis after placing of implants?
After an implant operation, a period of 2-4 months is needed in order to ensure bonding of the implant and its forming an anchor with the bone.
Is an implant required for every missing tooth?
No. An implant is not required for every missing tooth. If there are more than one missing teeths in the same location within the mouth, a single implant may provide support for two or three dentures.
What are the advantages of implant treatment?
The dentures or prostheses prepared after an implant treatment process constitute the most identical structures to human natural teeth.
They provide better chewing and speaking functions as compared to other traditional prostheses.
They look more aesthetical than other types of prostheses.
The missing teeth are being retrieved without having to make any operation on the neighbouring teeth thanks to the implants.
They help increase retention of total prostheses. The much weak retention of mandible total prostheses would be increased considerably by placing of two implants into the lower jawbone even the patient does not possess sufficient bone quality.
What is the average life span of a dental implant?
The dental implants have not been observed of being problem-free throughout lifetime. The length of their average life span depend on various factors. Oral and dental hygiene of the patient is the primary factor that affects a dental implants average life.
How should care and hygiene of the implants be maintained?
One has to properly brush ones dentures at least twice a day. The dentist or orthodontist should be consulted with for proper and effective brushing techniques.
An interdental brush or dental floss are advised for cleaning and removing the feedstock remained/deposited at teeth interspaces or around dentures.
In order to maintain oral hygiene, gargling liquids and/or oral douche may also be recommended.
Are the dental implants warrantied lifetime?
All dental implant applications done within our hospitals Group are lifetime warrantied.
Do implants have a risk of causing allergy of cancer?
No. The implants do not carry a risk of causing any sort of an allergy or a cancer.
Are implant treatments expensive applications?
Although the implant treatments might seem and be regarded as expensive and costly applications at first sight, their cost figures may easily and reasonably be justified when the comfort, naturality and aestheticity they offer to the patients are taken into consideration.
Does the patient have to stop taking any medicines of continual consumption before starting an implant treatment and application?
The patient might have to temporarily stop taking some of the medicines of such category by advice and under control of his/her doctor prior to an implant treatment process. Hence, the doctor and the dentist of the patient should be in communication and consultation prior to his/her implant treatment process.
Is it necessary to take out an implant-supported denture when going to bed at night?
The implant-supported dentures are of two type as, first, stationary dentures which are fixed over the implants and, second, implant-supported dental plates which are done in order to increase retention of total prostheses within the mouth. It is impossible to take out the first type of dentures for they are fixed, while it is advised to take out the second type of dentures when sleeping at nights for oral hygiene purposes.
Are implant-supported dentures renewable?
The implant-supported dentures are surely renewable. During a renewal process, the previously inserted implants, i.e., their screw sections which are bonded with the jaw bone are staying in their places and only the dentures which were done above them are being replaced with the new ones. The implant-supported dentures have got a certain lifespan as all other dentures do. One may lengthen the lifespan of ones dentures by caring and maintaining the oral and denture hygiene properly.
Are dental implants advised for smokers?
Smoking and alcohol consuming do delay and lengthen the healing period and complicate the total process following the implant operations. Thus, the patients are advised and expected to keep away and abstain from cigarette and alcohol at least throughout their healing periods.
Do the patients have to stay toothless throughout the healing period after an implant operation?
No. The patients do not have to be toothless during that period.
During the period following the implant operation, we are providing them with temporary dentures until their own dentures are done.
How long after an implant treatment operation do the patients turn to their normal social lifestyles again?
A patient may return to his/her normal life right after an implant operation and may resume on his/her work after one or two days.
Bleaching
Bleaching is the operation of whitening the color of teeth applied as required by the medical indication and esthetically.
The bleaching may be used as required by the medical indication at diseases such tetracycline discoloration and different diseases such phlorosis. In terms of esthetic the bleaching may be made at teeth with seriously dark tones and to give moral to patients. The bleaching operation may be made with various techniques according to the situation of patient and going of case. In the bleaching operation "recycling" is possible. With other words this operation shall be repeated once per few years.
Laser Operations
In dentistry, the laser operations will be executed to soft and hard tissues. Some of these applications are cleaning the dental cavities, root canal treatments, fillings, all kinds of surgical operations on jawbone and gums, forming the gum, aesthetic dental treatments, removing the sensibilities of the sensitive teeth, to blanch the dark colored gums, teeth whitening, herpes and aphtha treatments.

Why Dental Laser Implementations?
- Reinfection and caries risks are eliminated as 100% disinfection and sterilization is obtained on the laser treated areas.
- In implant treatments, surgical procedures are simplified with the use of laser technology and time is saved in whole treatment.
- Virtually no bleeding occurs during the surgical procedures done with laser. Complication, distention and discomfort risks, which may occur after every surgical procedure, are reduced and a faster recuperation is obtained.
- In porcelain laminated veneer procedure, near perfect roughening of the tooth enamel affects the bonding of the restoration 100%.
- Again, possibility to conduct bleeding-free operations on the soft tissue and faster recuperation are among the most important advantages. It provides convenience in treatment of the infants.
- Selective treatment of the caries with the power adjustable laser ray, enables treatment to be completed with lowest possible wasting.
- Laser odontology, can shorten the treatment period and thus yield more successful results with much less effort.
- Laser implementations and composite stopping procedures, in which stopping material is hardened with a white light source and known as laser stopping, should not be confused.
- It is possible to work without touching teeth or other tissues with the new generation dental laser. Thanks to this, no heat, vibration and friction induced pain occurs.
- In the implant treatments, surgical implementations (incision of the gum and revealing of the implant) needed to correct the maxilla are much simplified with the use of laser and time saved.
- Successful results can be obtained in a short time span in the laser tooth whitening procedures.
- On the patients with excessive hyperpigmentation, this problem can be eliminated in 3-4 sessions with laser peeling.
- Laser may be used on soft tissue and gum ulcerations. Oral fibromas (benign pathologic tissue lesions) can be removed with laser.
Dental Radiology
Radiography is very important for the dental and oral health. The x-rays are helping to the dentists for diagnosing the problems in jaw and teeth.
The cavities, bone loss and problems in the root canals can be easily determined with dental radiography. Besides that, the x-rays are helping to the dentists during the orthodontic treatments and implant replacements.
Digital Panoramic X-ray
The panoramic x-ray is a type of tomographic x-ray in which all the teeth and jawbone will be displayed together by taking less radiation. It is used to show the parts of the teeth, bones and gums which can not be seen during the clinical examination. Using the digital system increases the visual quality and remarkably decreases the radiation amount that a person is exposed.
Cephalometric X-ray
Cephalometric X-ray is the side-face image of all the teeth and jawbone for supplying the evaluation of the anomalies on skull-base and chin structure.
